Callers office got a Bit Heated today...staff slagging off other staff. No need for it as we're all in the "Oh s**t, its Xmas!" RM Boat.

Sorta makes u wonder why one person gets targeted stick, when there are 3 others who are just as able to help out.

But then, when that one person bites back...the accuser starts shouting/screaming?! Very "professional"...I dont think.

Gonna be a long, long, l-o-n-g xmas!!!

Close to being the worst Saturday ever today...3 lots of different Virgin letters 2 A5 size letters and the good old A4 one! but at least they seem to have stopped the address label slipping out of the envelope window at last.

We had a spare driver today, but he was only paid until 8.30am so he managed to take 4 of our packets. We cut off dead on time, only taking mail, tracked and specials, and there are still 2 cages of packets next to our frames including every packet that wouldn't fit through a letterbox for the last two days.

Apparently our Christmas pressure hasn't started yet, it starts on Monday and we get a couple of packet drivers working full time. :left:

After a c**p week it was weirdly quiet today - not much more than a normal Saturday. I expect we'll pay for it on Monday. Oh - hang on though, our DOM keeps telling us the mail's dropping off. So that's alright then!

Thought I would do my bit to ease the pressure and went to real shops instead of using the internet - it turned out to be a bit of a surprise.
Went to the Trafford Centre and from there to Manchester and then home, all on the bus, bought three items, crowds no busier than a normal day (if even that), no stress, no queuing and plenty of space on the buses - and all in only two and a half hours. There is no doubt that the internet is having an effect on physical retailing, and from what we have delivered packet wise in the last week, I can see high street retailers cutting staff more than ever. I worked many years in retail before becoming a postie and despite the difficulties we sometimes face would never swap back again.
We are undoubtedly in for our busiest Christmas ever - I intend to do everything I can to deliver for my customers but I won't stand any crap from above. They must now realise that we have become indispensable as part of RM's success - make sure they know it and treat us accordingly.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

Just today - we've had queues out of the door continually for the last week. No extra staff though

Good and bad day for me. In at 8 with my round prepped for me and finished at 12.20. Nice to finish early but only on a 20 hour contract and need 30 hours a week min so means some long days later in the week.
