Re: is there a dividend paid from the shares ?
Dividends will normally be paid twice a year to shareholders and are a distribution of a portion of the company's profits.
We normally announce dividends at the same time as the annual and half-year results. Dividends are paid on a half-yearly basis. Royal Mail’s financial year end runs to the last Sunday in March each year. For each financial year it is our intention to pay any interim dividend in December or January and any final dividend in July or August subject to shareholder approval at the AGM.

For your Free Shares, any dividend payments will be paid straight into the bank account we pay your salary into. If Equiniti does not have details of your bank account, they will send a cheque to your registered home address.
For any shares you buy under the Employee Priority Offer and hold in your name on the ordinary shareholder register, you can choose which bank account to have your dividends paid into. If you do not give Equiniti details of a bank account, they will send a cheque to your registered home address.
Will I have to pay income tax on any dividends I receive?
Dividends are taxable income. How much income tax you have to pay will depend on your personal tax status. All dividends (whether the shares they relate to are held in the SIP, or held in the Royal Mail Nominee Share Service or in your name on the ordinary shareholder register) are received with the benefit of a tax credit. This means that if you are a basic-rate taxpayer or pay no tax, you will have no further tax to pay on the dividends. Otherwise, you will have to pay extra tax under self-assessment

Oh and don't spend it all in one shop! You will be looking at between £50-£60 per YEAR for every £1000 worth of shares. By my amateurish calculations the average full time postie wil get about £150 or £3 a week non-pensionable. Or if their is a majority shareholders vote for no dividend for that year. You will get hee-haw.
