I'm aware that this issue is pretty trivial in the scheme of things at the moment but I'm just fishing for opinions (which is what this excellent board is about)
Our night crew is now down to 5 people. We operate 2 sequencing machines, bag tip and generally mop up packets/flats after the delivery staff have completed 2hrs to 2hrs30 IPS.
Our hours are 23.30 -07.30.
Recently when one of us went to wash hands at 7.26 he was followed by a manager and told his finishing time was 7.30 and to go back to the packet frame !!!
They've now made an issue of it and we are watched and made to work to the absolute minute.
Just wondered if managers in your office are so vindictive or are we unique.

Petty f***ers.
And they wonder why we get the hump with them!
As far as i'm aware there's 5 or 10 minutes washing up time or whatever it's called.
Some of the others on here will know for sure.
But that really is sad and petty!!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think its called a Comfort Break - like for when you need toilet. One of the CWU reps should be able to give you the official RM line.

Basically , TBT is right. A comfort break is for going to the toilet during duty time and before any break time. There isn't as far as
I know any official line on this either from RM or the CWU , as it's generally accepted that when anybody has to answer a call of
nature then they have to leave the shopfloor. I understand though, that a manager can question someone's comfort break if it
exceeds a minimum of 10 mins.
As for Mr. Petty arsed toe-rag , I'm afraid if he sees you leave the floor four mins before your finish time, he's within his rights to
call you back onto the floor.
Unless of course , you tell him you have to have a dump !

I understand the comfort break thing, but what he's asking is different.
It's the end of the duty thing, and i'm sure there's a 5 min washing up thing.
Anyway if we find out there isn't(where's your rep btw) DROP everything at your end time, and just walk.
And tell him i called him a c***!
