new site, new address

Post by lyricalgerry »

Would appreciate some help regarding an address issue. I am moving into a new house (new build) in December. The builder has advised me of the post code (FK8 3AB). I am now trying to arrange services for the new house but suppliers cannot find the address linked to that post code. e.g. BT said they cannot book an engineer to install line and broadband because the address does not appear on their system. BT said to contact Royal Mail to ensure that they had the address registered. I have found it impossible to find a telephone number or chat service on Royal Mail website to do this. I may have overlooked this?

Reminds me of reading Catch 22. I would much appreciate a steer here.

Many thanks

The builders should be able to advise about utilities etc.
It can take several months before external agencies update their files once RM have updated theirs.
DVLA still can't find my home after 3 months.

Might be worth checking with the councils building control too as they are the ones who have to first approve addresses that are requested by the developer, and then building control inform Royal Mail so there could well be a delay of some kind there.

This link may be informative (I'm assuming the process is the same everywhere in the country)

1. My address doesn't show on the Royal Mail PAF.

1. Email the address to the Address Management team - addressmaintenance@royalmail.com. Let us know your full address details, where the property is (for example what is either side of the property) also is it a new property? We'll then let you know if this can be added or whether you’ll need to register the property with your Local Authority.
