Whats the Christmas period like for a postie?

Post by jamesbond35 »

Hello all just want to know whats the Christmas period is like for a postie as I've never experienced. For example how much longer are your days what with all the packages and that, I mean I get a lot of packages now but can't imagine what it will be like 2-3 weeks before Christmas. Would we start earlier or usual time get out by around 9am? Also will we be delivering past 4pm? Any advice would be great.

My days are the same length all year round. :confused
There's plenty overtime available if that's what you mean.
Also will we be delivering past 4pm?
Who's this "we" you're talking about? :nervous
I'll be sitting at home in my smoking jacket drinking Ovaltine and watching Storage/Bargain Wars/Hunters repeats at 4pm.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Xmas you will have around 4 times more mail than you usually handle, but everyday!! so it will build up, you will be offered overtime to go over your round but you don't have to do it!

We normally get out around 11am and have a good 4-5 hour delivery, Parcels has doubled since last year and is very busy already
