I wonder if Dave's getting to grips with privatisation is the control of the share votechrisj wrote:2000 is a long time ago - introduced by the Labour party. So I wonder how many other companies have used SIPs or are currently using SIPS?
So nothing to do with RM privatisation specifically. Well, there we have it - there is no conspiracy as far as giving us shares is concerned.

Wonder if Equiniti was insolvent would we lose our shares it has happened before with even the biggest banks on our high street!chrisj wrote:No share certificate* but you will soon get some information like share reference number from Equiniti and you can register and happily look at how your shares is doing. We have already got a confirmation letter of number of shares - have you not?
Not very interesting if you cannot really sell but they will also send you a statement of your dividends and provide you with a choice of either having your dividend paid as a cheque or credited to a bank account.
* Share certificate are being phased out and most new shares are now held in a nominee account or electronically through CREST... Share certificate cost more to sell and if you lose them, you have to pay for replacements.

Equinti don't 'own' the shares so it wouldn't make any difference if they went bust.k979aaa wrote:Wonder if Equiniti was insolvent would we lose our shares it has happened before with even the biggest banks on our high street!

Re: Do you really have RM shares?
The only time I have ever been burnt on share ownership is with a bank* - Bradford & Bingley. Although, I was a carpetbagger - so it was mostly free shares but the lied during the rights issues and were not truthful about the position and health of the bank.
So, I know businesses go bust but rarely does a service industry go completely bust without warning signs. and you can bet that someone will 'takeover' and the shares will be bought even if at a lower price.
* Banks are usually corrupt and they almost brought the country to its knees within the recent collapse of the financial market - they are a special case when it comes to shares ownership and all that.
TBH, these are free shares and people need to forget about them - for a long while...
