If you value it, you fight for it. The government never valued it, they never fought for it, we can't accept that because we know the value it brings to our customers.

The government took our pension assets valued at around £27 billion, that looks good on their balance sheet, they will honour the pensions, that will cost £1 billion over the next five years. They will still have £26 billion. They just made £3 billion selling the shares.

They have side lined us, we must be complete fools if we carry on contributing to the Labour party. The government have dented a major revenue stream for the Labour Party. Cameron and the boys have played a blinder.

The Postman/women fight to protect what they see as a threat, I hope you raise this with more senior union reps if ever you are presented with an opportunity to do so. I did, they went silent.

The shares are held in trust, me and you wouldn't actually own them, besides we already have more than 10 %. There is not a conflict of interest. Some companies but back their own shares from the market.

10 Postmen/women can own 10% each equalling 100% of the shares. If there is £100 million in the Royal Mail bank account, they can share that among themselves, they are not obliged to give any of that to us. Other than strike I'm afraid me and you can't do anything.

Anyone can buy shares, I am not quite sure what is your point, if we have a controlling stake in the Royal Mail, we could theoretically ask for a 10% pay rise, if the company does not have that money, then what sense would it be to ask for such a rise.

Look at the bankers.

Some companies give their staff shares instead of pay rises.

I reiterate my original point that we should put our money where our mouths are, if we care, we should buy up the shares utilising our collective buying strength via the union. We should further press the board that they should buy the remaining shares from the government.

We can if we had the will gain control of the Royal Mail.
