well good luck to you, i hope you get a better response than i did, i have been in touch with moya greens office plenty of times regarding ensuring that there is one first aider on duty everyday in our office, and even after sending letters to HSE, local MP, Head of CWU, head of H+S at CWU, we still have planned days when we have no first aider on duty when even a basic risk assessment says we should in fact have two in the building! successive managers have ignored the regulations, area managers have too and the union reps here are all in each others pockets with the area managers desperate to protect their full time release

hear you loud and clear unfortunately there are those who join for purely personal reasons and status...rotten eggs that should be thrown out of the basket, just as bad apples in Management should be removed from the fruit bowl...it works on both sides!

You mention training over the last 9 years. Has that training been through any accredited outside independent agencies, or is it through Royal Mails own interpretation of statutory procedures?

I myself sat down with the manager of one of these large mail dispatch units after making a formal complaint. We discussed minimum health and safety statutory requirements, He was unable to give a coherent response to any of my concerns. And that was from a manager of one of these units.

i have no axe to grind at any one individual, there seems to be a lack of any corporate basic duty of care. I witnessed fire exits obstructed, The old style fire exit signs and not the pictographs, cardboard boxes lying about. This shows that the training modules given are either ineffective, the incompetence as you put it of the PIC, or not being enforced due to the cumulative economic factors such procedures have on the business. The whole health and safety organisation seems archaic and behind the times on what is now an acceptable practice by a major UK employer

I did my PIC course under an outside company and it was a thorough and well organised course from which I learnt a lot. The downside is that the refresher courses every 3 years are done in house . I did say that safety pillars should be proficient not that they are . At the moment safety is only important when something happens , money is the king at the moment , I have raised concerns with my colleagues and CWU safety rep about me being able to keep my staff safe on the streets, but nobody is interested .

email moya, then someone will be interested, and also if you have complained about issues, then been ignored and you leave it at that you are still responisble for these issues, its your responsibility to take the issue higher
