I remember having Shares ....though phantom one's...started at £1 each then raised to £1.52 the following year then £1.82 i think...then ... £0.00

Thats the scheme the government decided to use, not a good one but better than the new "Shares for rights". Is it fair - no - they wanted to stop us stagging them.

There was a planning meeting at our office today,lots of suits and a spread laid on in the canteen for their lunch so....after my delivery I walked in and helped myself.
We're all shareholders now dv...

I'm going to ask for a company car on monday.

Why did we have to wait 3 years and not cash em in while there at a profit and not after 3 years when there worth nothin?

Probably due to the goverment believing that everyone like themselves are all just money orientated, they assume by giving us ( us translated: grubby little inbred poor people) shares and a stake in the company we will all stop caring about being shafted every five mins as we can sit back and be amazed at our share prices going up year on year, we'll stop booking overtime, come in an hour early, agree to everything they say so long as our share price is going up what we'll be able to get in 3 years time!! (when they conveniently become worth bugger all)
You watch the ballot will come in soon (Hopefully a massive yes vote) share prices will drop and we'll get told "Look at what your doing to your money!! your only hurting yourselves by striking! *gasp* the horror"....why else would they stop the big investors buying shares? they'll make it out like we're hurting the little investors by striking etc etc.

....I'm very cynical these days, they'll be something behind it there always is, probably something along the lines of 3 years will pass it's in the terms and conditions of the shares that we accept a pay cut, loss of sick pay, meal breaks now unpaid, loss of that 20 quid a week d2d thing, longer duties, job losses you name it...it'll be all there hidden in the terms and conditions, why else would they be so desperate to push for this 3 year deal?
