Re: RM"the company will employ fewer people in the future"
In written evidence submitted to a committee of MPs for its inquiry into privatisation plans, Royal Mail has conceded that "the company will employ fewer people in future, whoever owns it".
The company added that it "remains committed" to achieving this without compulsory redundancies.

It's hardly a surprise revelation. RM has been quite open about this for some time.

It seems a surprise to some from comments on other threads.

Now where did I say anything of the kind? I just said that that it wasn't new news. It probably has come as surprise to some people - particularly those who make a virtue of not reading Courier or any of the other "propaganda".XCHpostie wrote:So that makes it alright does it?Brain Fury wrote:It's hardly a surprise revelation. Re: RM"the company will employ fewer people in the future"
Maybe if RM concentrated on growing the business rather than throwing millions at WCM this could be minimised, starting with winning back the processing currently undertaken by DSA companies.
Letter traffic (where volumes are falling) are more or less fully automated whereas parcels/packets (where volumes are rising) are still a mainly manual process (for the time being) added to which the differential in terms of distribution costs and you have to wonder why there is a requirement to downsize if those at the top are doing their jobs properly, which they most certainly are not !!
