so we are now sold.
just been announced by robert peston on bbc news. ''this business, this service, HAS now been privatised. the deal in effect is done. there is a twin track process for selling this business, some shares are are being sold to invested institutions, and some to retail investors, individuals. the government has already sold the minimum it wanted to sell, in fact more, to get this business privatised. so as of this second it has now got commitments to buy more than 41% of the company. so as of this moment in effect this company IS NOW in private hands. most of the shares are no longer in effect with the taxpayer. its a very significant moment.

Re: so we are now sold.
is it, you have to wonder, an act of desperation by the government/royal mail, to lower morale of the workers into voting no, as it would seem pointless. i defo think so. smacks of it.

in my eyes its a sad day ....... , but to others - its good , they don't care , I am about to fill my boots with more shares, private is always bound to provide a better service, I am management so I am sure I will be looked after , huraah for the Tories , I am working class but I know my place etc , etc , ........... just tick off the one that best describes your good self.......

What's the betting, that more public money will be showered on the postal service, now it's very nearly part-privatised, than when the public actually owned it all ?
Can see the British public being right royally screwed on this one, just as they have been on all the others.
Never before, have so many privately-owned companies, been given so much of the taxpayers hard earned money. And that has gone far beyond being just plain wrong.
The fact that the energy companies, the multitude of rail companies too, get so much taxpayers money, seems corrupt to me.

I always thought that capitalism was about innovation and creating new markets. This ConDem capitalism is all about handing over the state assets to the private sector i.e. their mates. Labour gets embarrassed if it shows support to its core supporters, the tories have no compunction.

But we haven't been privatised yet, not a single share has been sold.daveyeff wrote:just been announced by robert peston on bbc news. All that has happened is they have released the share prospectus for interested parties, and they did that on the same day as the CWU officially launched the ballot, it was a purely political move and completely cynical. They are trying to get posties to think its a done deal and give up.
They are crapping themselves and we need a YES vote, and if its a big one then the price of the shares is going to plummet and the Government will be pissed off.
Vote Yes
To stop minimum wage.
To protect your T&Cs for more than 3 years.
To protect your pension
To put the bullying and harassing managers on notice
To get the workload situation sorted in Deliveries

Re: so we are now sold.
Nope - just that the governments share allocation has been fully subscribed - which means that there is an interest shown for every share they MIGHT sell. Not a single share has been sold yet - the game is still on, there is everything to fight for still. If we create enough problems defending our pay claims and protecting our T&Cs by voting YES, then a lot of the interest may dry up.k979aaa wrote:SOLD OUT!
Its like when you are selling your house, some people have had a look round your living room and have taken away the brochure - it doesn't mean they are going to move in next week and change the wallpaper. You can still let the kids draw on it.

Made me chuckle.
We haven't been sold yet.
But, even if we had, the dispute is about pay, T&C's and pensions. Vote..............................YES

Re: so we are now sold.
New Labour was like the conservative party but having listened to Ed Miliband earlier this week I think he gets it and is more a socialist than any leader of the labour party since Neil Kinnock. Also LABOUR is the only real alternative against the TWO parties whom I detest for it is they and their capitalist ideology which has left OUR ROYAL MAIL in it's perilous state today.egor110 wrote:k979aaa wrote:SOLD OUT!
