The Government's share in Royal Mail could be as low as 37.8% when it is floated next month. It said the firm is expected to be valued at between £2.6 billion and £3.3 billion when it is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
There is no magic about the 37.8% share in Royal Mail that the government is retaining. It had pledged 10% of shares to staff - and it had said it did not wish to keep a controlling interest. That left anywhere from 90% to 51% to sell off - depending on market conditions
