I see at my mail centre they are trying to get more union members as they see its a time to get revenues up which all good businesses would do. That is a capitalist world.

never mind vince cable what about labour,is there any signs that they are willing to do more because i fear their supposed backing of the save our Royal mail is just going through the motions,they hold the key to derailing the current framework for privatisation and we deserve to know the details of any dialogue the cwu have with them.

It's a poor state of affairs when the union rely on the employer to give the latest membership details and is yet another failure that needs to be addressed, privatised or not - who knows if the next employer will be as generous as the current one with full time release paid for, offices, electricity, heating and collecting union funds etc? Has Vince indicated what the proportion will be or will it depend on how much money can be raised and a sliding scale operated, like x amount will buy you so much, y amount so much more or less.

No it isn't and no it doesn't. It's a convenience for the union.

The best option is a group wide ballot for IA over the proposal to hand over some of our pension money to investors. Investors are not keen and this is why this risky proposal has been made to give them a sweetener.

IA and the likelihood that a Labour government will do a 'Network Rail' will stop privatisation.

If this is the case why do Royal Mail challenge the ballot in court?

because they hate trade unions and there other ways for the draconian trade union laws to be mined and give an employer the upper hand in court,for instance Unite had their British Airways dispute ballot thrown out because something like 3 people who voted in the a ballot would be retired when the planned IA was due to take place.

I wouldn't say there's any great enthusiasm in my delivery office, it's rarely even spoken of, there's more interest in the fact that lapsing finishes this week! If there is to be any interest engendered in IA then the full time release guys need to get off their backsides and start visiting - bit difficult for one full time release guy because he can't drive so it makes personal visits a problem.

Now there's an understatement, I don't know anybody in deliveries thats "up for it", not even the REP's

ignore the bt2010 agreement and yes that aint easy and some warned against it and voted no as its proven to be an agreement that in many ways has made privatisation possible when we needed to play the awkward squad card with a Tory
government inevitable.

take that away and theres never been a more necessary time to show some collective strength and thats for ourselves and not HQ..The disappointing thing is you get dingo coming on here saying some are not up for it and i guess my area comes into that category but theres been zero effort from our branch to put that right resulting in total silence and no meetings in the last 6 weeks and not even sending out ltbs ive seen on here -yet these are the ones at the national briefing spending our branches money on themselves and performing the usual nodding dog act.

The grass roots element of the union has been ignored for far too long, it's become stale and entrenched in looking after No1 and protecting full time release at any cost - the Gentlemens' club mentality is alive and well.
