Campaigners took to the streets of Watford town centre at the weekend over plans to privatise Royal Mail.
Organisers of Save Our Royal Mail said they garnered 700 signatures against Government plans to sell the postal services to the private sector, which ministers say will make it more "competitive".
The initiative is being opposed by postal unions and campaigners were joined by Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Watford, Matt Turmaine.
A stall was set up in Watford town centre on Saturday and campaigners encouraged passersby to sign their petition and take postcards to send to local MPs.
Colin Ince, a campaigner from Bushey, said: "It’s a national campaign and we are against the privatisation of Royal Mail. We have organised Save Our Royal Mail stalls to appear all over the area and on Saturday we brought it to Watford.
"The purpose is to make the public aware of what is going on. We gave cards out to be sent to the MPs that represent our area.
"The amount of people that are supportive of the campaign is fantastic. We are trying to put pressure on MPs to back us and listen to their constituents. The people of Watford are behind us and once we explained what’s going on people were taken aback, we will most likely be back again. Privatisation will ruin the service we have."
