If and when we are privatised is it likely their will be job losses almost from the off and if so how many jobs will be shed.

IF it all happens, you will probably find that Managers are the first to be culled due to cost of each one, then you will also find that people who are close to retirement will go and people will also leave of their own accord.
therefore not many footsoldiers will lose their jobs.

And that's the way it happened when I worked for British Gas when it was privatised although they did let too many people go and had to reinstatement a lot of them as contractors.
