TNT Post to start mail service in more London areas

Dutch-owned mail and parcel delivery company TNT Post is about to expand its end-to-end mail delivery service to more areas of London.

The parent operation of the company, which according to Postandparcel.info is "the first ever significant rival to Royal Mail in delivering regular letters over the last mile", is also currently looking for a major investing partner to help it expand the service nationwide.

TNT Post UK has been operating a trial mail delivery service in West London for 13 months. Its 350 mail delivery staff do their rounds on alternate days, three-days-a-week.

And since expanding into the City of London, the average number of items handled weekly has reached 600,000.

Herna Verhagen, chief executive of PostNL, TNT's parent company, said the end-to-end pilot was “doing well".

She said: “Customers are satisfied because of the quality, but also because we have a track-and-trace system on mail items in the UK, so customers can follow deliveries on the internet. This is a unique selling point in the mail market.”

And how many items are they mis-delivering, and how many are put into our postboxes for us to re-deliver

Any of these items which end up in RM's network - whether for delivery, unofficial redirection or RTS - should be passed to Revenue Protection who can charge TNT for returning them

we have a track-and-trace system on mail items in the UK, so customers can follow deliveries on the internet. This is a unique selling point in the mail market.
As far as I'm aware most of these items are bulk items like utility bills.
It's a sad day when you feel the need to track&trace your gas bill.

It's probably so the supplier can deny any claims from customers that bills haven't turned up.

WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! DSA mail is treat the same as any other item once it is in the pipeline, unofficial redirections(unopened social mail only) and rts including opened items are all FREE of charge.
I tire of people putting wrong info on here,it only leads to customer complaints.
And yes i am a RP officer

Well you shouldn't do it then.
He isn't talking about DSA.
He's talking about TNT mail that is proper to TNT being shoved into our network without paying for it.
Read the original story and the penny might drop.

We got hundreds of TNT misdeliveries, rts, and redirects every day at Mount Pleasant, as they are delivering in EC and WC postcodes (also the Mount's delivery and collection areas), and they were sent to RP for surcharge.

fishtank already covered it but let's just clarify we're talking about OLO/COP (other licensed operators/code of practice) mail not DSA. This mail should be getting passed to RP at your Mail Centre so you can (a) get DSACC to raise the appropriate charges and (b) return the items to the appropriate carrier (which usually means TNT or DX)
