MOSCOW, July 26 (UPI) -- The Russian Postal Service has been fined $11,000 for allowing letters and packages to pile up at airports in the Moscow region, prosecutors said Friday.
The fine was imposed by arbitration courts in Moscow and the Moscow region, RIA Novosti reported. The prosecutor general said the fine came to 360,000 rubles or $11,064.
Investigators found more than 91 tons of packages and letters sitting unprocessed at Domodedovo Airport, 189 tons at Sheremetyevo Airport and 38 tons at Vnukovo Airport, the capital's main business airport.
Air mail is supposed to be processed within 10 hours of arrival at the airport.

Re: Russian Postal Service fined for delayed airmail
Takes over 2 months for parcels to reach Moscow from the UK. Piss poor and costs an arm and a leg when you have to send them Int'l Recorded otherwise they just don't arrive.
