Hi all,
Does anybody know what to expect at interview and the route planning for a driving position at parcel force as I have one on Monday :wink:

Not sure about the interview but I was at Parcelforce for a few weeks. I was shifted around different areas almost everyday basically covering other drivers shifts. I found it quite hard even after a few weeks,that was the opinion of all the new drivers too but obviously over time and being stable in your own area that would get easier. Forget your satnav for route planning,you need maps and can usually print them off yourself at the depot then sort out what streets to do in order as you don't wanna be going down the same road twice. I used to section my van out into quarters for the 4 areas so your not jumping over parcels in the van to get to the one you need. I was given about 70 deliveries a day which finished me between 4-6pm, experienced drivers usually had over 100 and would comfortably be back at the depot for 4. Being stuck in traffic used to annoy me especially at 2pm and your van still seems full. Good luck with the interview.

yeah know what you mean ha ha I've been doing multidrop for around 12 years at different companies so have an idea of the job. just wondering how things are done at interview and with the route planning on the day. thanks for the reply. :Very Happy

Ahh well that's half the battle,Id never had multi drop experience. I only remember going in and straight away getting your minifest which was in postcode order then get your cages of parcels which were already prepared for you for you to sort. Not sure how things were done where you had been. Im sure someone on here will help you a lot better than me though :chuckle

multi drops easy once you know a route and can do it in order but its all the timed stuff that complicates and slows it down retracing youre route

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Ayup

I had my interview over 7 years ago so dunno if still same. Was given around 25 cards which represented the parcels, a map and a list to put em in order. I highlighted all parcel locations and numbered them on the map in drop order and listed them accordingly. You were also given entry and exit times and points. Remember if there are schools or other traffic rush hour hotspots to leave these to times there are quieter roads. They picked me up on this and asked me about it afterwards in interview. It's just common sense stuff.
