Timetable for the sell off?
I noticed this in the closed pay offer.
Year One (April 1st 2013 to March 31st 2014) - 2.6% basic pay increase + £300 lump sum payable December 2013 (subject to Industrial Action clause) *
Wondered what the Industrial Action clause was and found this in the Royal Mail press release.
*In 2013-14, in addition to a 2.6% base pay increase there would be a non-consolidated lump sum of£300 (pro-rata for part-timer employees). It will be paid in December 2013. This is subject to a successful transaction before the end of the year. This payment will be forfeited in offices where industrial action takes place between now and the date of payment.
I suspect it's a bribe to keep us off the gate until the company is sold which kind of means they are going for this year.

When I does get privatised do you all really think we would get the £300 no strike bribe?.

No I don't. Nor the following years pay increases either. They know strike action is the biggest threat to the sell off, and are, quite pathetically, trying to bribe us unto not striking.k979aaa wrote:When I does get privatised do you all really think we would get the £300 no strike bribe?.
If they want to stop us striking, it would take a proper pay offer and guarantees. But the likelihood of that is very low. They aren't willing to offer a decent deal.

I think most employees in royalmail will not trust royalmails proposals for a minute but royalmail know these are hard times for all ( except MOYA and her crew) but to accept this is like eating sh!t straight from a donkeys arse.UnhappyGremlin wrote:No I don't. I'm prepared to go to war. It's not just about a decent pay deal, any money they give us now with the pension proposal attached as one of those strings, has already been ripped from our pockets when we retire.k979aaa wrote:I think most employees in royalmail will not trust royalmails proposals for a minute but royalmail know these are hard times for all ( except MOYA and her crew) but to accept this is like eating sh!t straight from a donkeys arse.UnhappyGremlin wrote:No I don't. Think we can take 'successful transaction' to mean total privatisation has happened and all shares sold/distributed.

Re: Timetable for the sell off?
The fly in the ointment is this.....
We have been there before.
1) Not all of the offices have received all of the £1000 business transformation money, indeed many have not yet seen the first tranches of payment never mind the rest.
2) The £300 can easily be raised through overtime no need for the bribe.
3) There is no guarantee that the new owners will honour the agreement, it would depend on what has been written in the sale document if its written in without legal guarantees the CWU would have to read it and ensure the guarantees are written in, otherwise the new owner can/may even effectively close Royal Mail PLC and set up a new one called Royal Post service UK PLC and issue new contracts while all the assets of the old RM PLC company will be transferred to the new undertaking R.P.S. UK PLC. so effectively you would have been made redundant without any pay off as the old company has folded therefore no assets to pay and having to re apply for your old job.

r.m. will be sold off either now or next year, 300 quid or strikes will make no difference. i would like the union leaders talking to whoever wants to buy r.m. to try and save as many posties as they can

Re: Timetable for the sell off?
One very small problem with that - the government wants an IPO which means shares being sold on the stockmarket. We could have a mix of small investors, hedge funds, pension funds and even 5 minute holdings. If it does get sold via the IPO method then we are already talking to our new bosses, they will be the same as the current ones, well until they start back stabbing each other, or the institutional shareholders sack them for not sacking enough of us.blackadder wrote:r.m. will be sold off either now or next year, 300 quid or strikes will make no difference. i would like the union leaders talking to whoever wants to buy r.m. to try and save as many posties as they can
If they go for the 2nd option, then as far as I know only 1 company is showing genuine interest, CVC, and they are asset strippers have just sold part of the BPost, the other is DHL which aren't exactly known as a Union friendly company. TNT were a possibility but are know long shots because of the EU ruling over their merger with UPS. It would be difficult and time consuming, and probably ultimately a fruitless endeavour to start talks with all prospective buyers.
