Small wonder, management struggle to cover duties on a Saturday.
Making Saturdays a dreadful working day, has backfired big time at our place.
Serves them right.

Pretty ave sat. Pretty much mail as a fri but 2 hrs less money.
About 1.5 crammed dropbags, 3 mech trays and loads of flats.

Just felt worn out today and wanted to get finished but ended up taking 4hr 10 mins.

Had only been out on delivery for an hour and got a puncture ....... and my van doesn't carry a spare :d'oh!
Our garage came out and changed the wheel another hour later.
That gave me a chance to have a go at Popmaster on the radio, and to catch some rays :coolr
Was feeling quite good about things, and then 'white van man' decided to rear-end the van at traffic lights ...... another call to the garage, and a tow home.
It's Monday, things can only get better :whistle

and my van doesn't carry a spare ... not 100% sure but that might be illegal. Be careful.

I've noticed a lot of DOMs carry a "spare tyre." Couldn't your DOM have helped?

He's as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike, or a chocolate teapot if you like ...................

On any OMV breakdown we now phone the garage direct, and inform the DOM after. If we leave it to him to organise recovery or a repair we'd still be sat there waiting at teatime

From the AA website:

You don't have to carry a spare and it does not have to comply with the legal requirements while it is stowed away. However, when fitted to the vehicle (for example, following a puncture) it must then comply with the law. The spare is not tested in the MOT but the examiner may draw your attention to an unserviceable item as a matter of courtesy.

Well, after yesterdays shenanigans today could only get better. A replacement van turned up early doors, a white 12 plate hired one. As i went off smartly to sign for said van, i was informed by my lino that it was too good to use on a rural delivery, and i would have to use 'the spare' :cry
As all of you in deliveries know, 'the spare' is the shed of the fleet. I slowly made my way over to the far corner of the yard and my heart sank as i clapped eyes on it. There are cobwebs on most of the windows and the sun has now faded the paintwork to a shade of pink. It still has an old customer service telephone number on the back door. It has one cracked wing mirror and there is grass growing out of the mudflaps. On opening the door, (there is no remote), you can see where the garage has re-stuffed the drivers seat with foam, and then taped over everything to hold it all together. Checked all the fluids and tyres and it was all okay, so i had to take it out. While it may have the suspension of a Roman chariot, it does have a spare tyre :whistle

Busy day thanks to Virgin Media and the local housing trust. No time for lapsing. Chat with the rep informing me that the union have turned down the pay offer due to too many strings. :hmmmm Got caught in the rain towards the end of the walk.
