Greater Manchester Dog Attacks

Hi Everyone,

My name is Sarah Hodgson and I am a reporter for a news website called Mancunian Matters which covers the whole of Greater Manchester.

I'm doing a story about dog attacks in the area on Royal Mail workers and was wondering if anyone from the area wanted to provide any comments - this can be done anonymously if so wished.

You do not necessarily have to have been attacked to comment - you may just want to express your worries or you may want to say you don't think its a problem.

Just to give some idea of the issue - results show that about 2 postmen/women report a dog attack every week in the area.

However, it may be worth contacting our Union H&S officer at HQ, he will be able to give you facts and figures and put you in touch with various H&S reps at all levels, and also hopefully be able to get some non RMC members in touch with you.

No they don't, especially not the males.
They can be very aggressive. Had one charge at my van once.

I knocked a dog over once , it ran into traffic - not a nice experience at all and did loads of damage to the front end.

Actually I have contacted the Press Office, in fact they were the first people I did contact, in fact I contacted them before I even posted this message - as I am a reputable journalist! Part of journalism is also gathering other opinion that is not just from official sources. It is ethical to get a number of points of view and this is what I am trying to do by asking for quotes on here.

No it doesn't!

We have a Press Office in order that reputable 'press' are provided with approved Company information.

Anything you receive from any other source is unofficial, likely unverifiable and technically anonymous. Anonymous and unverified sources are not the mainstay of a reputable journalist!

Stories which are not anonymous will also as I've already stated get the employee sacked, and that is the only fact which you can take away with you from this conversation.
