Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Covered a Full-Time round thats 7hrs 45mins long, and the delivery part is, 5hrs 20mins, give or take.
I know it was fairly quiet today and prepped, but the full delivery, inc. Specials, Recorded's, Tracked and D2D's took, 3hrs 20mins...and I wasn't flying around.
Just wondering how it takes nearly 6hrs on a normal/heavy day?

you tire a little more as time goes on, body and brain, so that also slows it a little.DGP1 wrote:Because you call to more housesThunderthighs wrote:Covered a Full-Time round thats 7hrs 45mins long, and the delivery part is, 5hrs 20mins, give or take.

Yep, possibly both right above. Apparently...I found out that, due to Cut Offs being left behind, these Lads are "Giving me a job to do!!!" LOL!
And there's me thinking it was "Royal Mail" I was employed by, not the Full Timers!!!
Lucky I got Velcro sides...as they are currently splitting.

Busy day all round. Parcels after my delivery made for a long one. Very damp and gloomy this morning but managed to brighten up early afternoon. Hope it isn't too bad tomorrow.

If they were coming in early, cutting corners, skipping their breaks and not leaving cut offs what would you or the person doing the cut offs be doing?Thunderthighs wrote:Apparently...I found out that, due to Cut Offs being left behind, these Lads are "Giving me a job to do!!!" LOL!.
Loitering with intent at the local Job Centre possibly?
Not much LOLs down there from what I hear.

I've only done it 3 times -D2N - but already one is saying the neighbour is claiming they don't have the parcel.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Yep, Mr Twitch....It'll wear u out. When I 1st started, did all the OT i cud get...worked days off for months, OT, short notice changes etc. Earlys/lates...anything!
Just wears u down eventually.
Recall doing two x 16hrs shifts in heavy industry as a teenager in the 70's...2-10pm/10-6am...Knocked me out for over a week...totally zonked out!
Recall my Grandad "retiring" only to pass away a very short time later, leaving my Gran alone.
Live to work, or work to live?

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Day off today, had a nice relaxing day without any stress. Full day yesterday with a busy day on the walk. Received a phone call asking if I wanted to do some parcel deliveries again. The place is rammed. Long and tiring day.

Very heavy today, I can't believe how up and down the mail is now, really heavy one day and light the next, you'd think they could level the amounts out to make things more efficient

The way you talk it's like you think management are paid to manage and organise workloads.DGP1 wrote:Very heavy today, I can't believe how up and down the mail is now, really heavy one day and light the next, you'd think they could level the amounts out to make things more efficient
It does appear that, all over the country, we seem to get one day with very little, and the next with an absolute boatload, with no rhyme or reason(or explanation from RM or manager(s)), as to why it is happening. Rant over.
Not a bad day, though having to adapt to new WCM(I think) operations.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Apparently advertisers prefer midweek so that's what they get.UnhappyGremlin wrote:The way you talk it's like you think management are paid to manage and organise workloads.DGP1 wrote:Very heavy today, I can't believe how up and down the mail is now, really heavy one day and light the next, you'd think they could level the amounts out to make things more efficient![]()
