Can anybody tell me where I stand with sick pay please? Its looking like Im going to be taking ill health retirement soon due to two slipped discs. I work 25hrs a week & Ive been off work for a year now, 6 months full pay & 6months half topped up with ssp. My wage slip has just been posted with 3 fat zeros on it. am I entitled to claim anything from anywhere else? My husband works fulltime and we have a dependant son.

You're long term sick with dependants, have been on half wages for six months and haven't bothered to check out your options...

No I believe that 6months full and 6 months 1/2 is the limit over a 4 year period. You'll need to go to and see a claims advisor at the job centre I am afraid.

If you have outstanding annual leave from leave year 2012/13 then you can opt to take this leave while you are still off sick - that does get you paid for those weeks. Be aware however that PSP doesn't seem to cope with this very well and can lead to issues with overpayments (e.g. failing to cancel SSP for the A/L weeks)
