Ill health Retirement Question..

Hi, im wondering if any one knows if I will be entitled to the ill health retirement payment. As far as I can gather Ive just had my final atos interview and im expecting the Dr to say I am unable to return as Ive been away from work for over a year with 2 slipped discs that are causing sciatica. Ive had lots of treatments that are not working & its very unlikely I will be going back as its getting worse. It wasnt until today that it dawned on me that I had sciatica in my pre royal mail days but on the opposite leg which I received physio for and fully recovered before I became a posty. Will this effect the IHR payment I am expecting?

ihr payment will depend on how long you have been in service and at the doms discretion.
i dont know if these payments will exist in a privitised royal mail, they are issued quick as well

No pre existing conditions are nothing to do with IHR payments you can expect to get the bog standard 36 weeks wages plus any outstanding annual leave plus PILON 1 week pay for every year you have done. If you are a full time you can expect something in the region of 16-18k. Then all you need to do is find another job that doesn't destroy your joints and your spirits. Good luck

Thank you both for your replies. Oh my! That has cheered me up!! I work p/t (25 hrs pw) and have have been there just over 6 yrs so am I looking at around £8/9000?
