Yorkshire Distribution centre
How long does distribution to the north dorset branch from the YDC take because track and trace has been stuck on the same notice for over 8 hours. When will I have my package?

Re: Yorkshire Distribution centre
It will happen overnight usually. BTW what do you mean by North Dorset Branch - we normally go down to Delivery Office level which is based around major towns/cities rather than counties.emziiee wrote:How long does distribution to the north dorset branch from the YDC take
thats probably because unlike couriers we deal with millions of parcels each day and they will still be collecting them from companies, post offices and anywhere else that gets collections made.emziiee wrote: because track and trace has been stuck on the same notice for over 8 hours.
Depends on the service used.emziiee wrote:When will I have my package?

Re: Yorkshire Distribution centre
My local delivery office is blandford forum. It was sent from pc world by their standard delivery using track and trace. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow.

Re: Yorkshire Distribution centre
This is a guess as I work in a DO not an RDC but at the moment its not a live consignment - all of those seem to be internal confirmation scans between the sender and the RDC.
Keep an eye on the status tonight and tomorrow morning. When it mentions a Mail Centre then its definitely on the move, and when it mentions Out for Delivery or Delivery Office then expect it that same day, or very soon afterwards.
There is still a strong chance it will arrive tomorrow - you wont watch Top Gear but they raced a letter from the Sicily Islands to the Hebrides and lost, that letter had a tracking device and didn't start shifting till late evening.

Re: Yorkshire Distribution centre
Some larger Tracked customers post directly into the RDC network rather than into their local Mail Centre. The volumetric scan is the only real scan so far - this comes from a machine in the RDC which weighs, measures and tracks the item. The pre-advice just tells Royal Mail to expect the package and the sales order raised scan just relates to billing
Your item has been received at the outward RDC. Next stop should be the Inward Mail Centre which would normally happen either late evening on the 9th or early morning on the 10th. After that it should be your local delivery office on the morning of the 10th and then you at some point on the 10th (if it reaches your local DO in time)
Many Tracked customers have a scan-and-bill service where they are only billed for an item once it has been scanned somewhere in RM's network. The larger customers who post into RDCs get billed on a volumetric and weight basis. The other customers who post into Mail Centres get billed on an average weight basis from samples carried out X number of times per quarter. The sales order raised message just indicates that a real scan has taken place and that the charge for that item has been added to the sender's bill
