Royal Mail to be sold within a year
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

well there you have it, its going to happen or is it ? down to the workers now , are we bothered enough to strike over Privatisation ? interesting to read the comments from readers considering they are Tory rags. many are against it , I think we would get more support from the public than we might imagine. however , taking into account that so many members cant even be bothered to vote on their own pay deals etc I think the Tories may get their way ?
"why should it just be the bankers, politicians and the idle rich who get all the best things ? we demand a standard of living for our members that enables them to share in the fine wines and times that the likes of Cameron and his Eton buddies take for granted " - the late great Bob Crow RIP.

Anyone have any info on if the government will remain the majority shareholder,or is it more likely to be a equity group or rival with deep pockets?

Don't think any decision of any kind has actually been taken yet. It does appear as though the Government/RM board are testing the waters to see what would be their best option.hubbahubba wrote:Anyone have any info on if the government will remain the majority shareholder,or is it more likely to be a equity group or rival with deep pockets?

They are ,very soon we are going to ballot on various concerns within royal mail, not for a strike, but if we get a good turnout it will certainly give these business investors cold feet.SP115 wrote:Agreed, I think the CWU need to stepup a gear or 3 too.borders wrote:I think we would get more support from the public than we might imagine.

The union are involved in high level talks over pay and other issues with Royal Mail at the moment.
What happens if...Royal Mail throws a big tasty pay rise on the table, makes some concessions over this and that and ends the meeting with...cancel the consultative ballot or it's all off the table again.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

My point was more one of who would be our employer,be it RM through the government being the major shareholder,or an outsider?UnhappyGremlin wrote:Don't think any decision of any kind has actually been taken yet. Possibly I would imagine for ideological reasons they will pursue this privatisation, if the general floatation does not work out as expected they will have lined up asset holding companies to take over, they will asset strip it and sell off the profitable part, load the remaining part with debt from another company and sink it.
Thats how they make their profit. What the public and the post workers want is irrelevant.
