I thought that Swindon MC was quite new and a large building. Sounds like "the turd" sent from Bristol MC to Swindon for two months has been spreading rumours. He enjoys having all the junior managers wanting to know the latest.

swindon managers have visited home counties north on several occasions to look at the packet operations, would they be bothering if swindon was closing?

What sorting machines any given office has means jack s**t as any sorting machines can be moved to a different office if RM wanted to.

I doubt it could be true as HWDC and Bristol probably could not handle another area being added to theirs and HWDC is probably too far away from the RG/OX/SN area anyway. I did read once that the airport where Bristol MC is had been sold so the only feasible idea would be that BS has to move and they move BS/BA/TA/SN/RG/OX into a massive building and perhaps SWDC gets put somewhere else

Swindon is a large MC, it has been expanded. Definately will not close. There are rumours that there will be super MCs sometime in the future but that will be years down the line if it happens. Most MCs are struggling for space and that will get worse once packet machines are introduced.

Automation to some degree of packet sorting is probably inevitable especially if RM want every parcel to be trackable. How much spare space does Swindon have as a packet sorting machine would probably take a fair bit of room

Aside from the fact it's a new MC nearly all of RM's Research and Development is performed there (and it's useful to have a MC next door) so it won't be closing anytime soon.
