Starting in a month!

Post by 2pints »

A long process but finally got a job with RM :dance I have had the email with uniform ordering but it says i need to start work before ordering so what do i wear on my first days on the streets? I have well worn trainers but they are all white do RM allow white trainers or should i buy some darker ones and wear them in.I plan on getting some nice long walks in throughout the month leading up to starting to try and get my legs prepared for the onslaught  I am over 6 foot and fairly slim so think my leg muscles are in for a shock.

Seems a bit of a waste of money to buy dark trainers just for a few days/week really as i would never wear dark trainers usually. What about trousers? Cheap cargo trousers? I cannot wait to start i have always fancied being a postman, even after reading the reality of the job on here i am still up for it :wave

Hi and congrats :Very Happy

I got my uniform about 6 weeks after starting, Boots 3 weeks after uniform. I see guys in our office wearing white trainers who've been there years and noone seems fussed.

Yeah fabric trousers are best, Jeans are horrible to walk in when wet.

There's a new starters thread around here somewhere that I found really helpful when I started last year :thumbup

While I was waiting for shoes I bought some cheap trainers. They were £10 a pair and I was wearing them out in less than a fortnight, a dearer pair may have lasted longer but there is no point in throwing your own money at it. I also bought myself a cheap pair of trousers (from Sainsburys I think), cargo are best as pockets are very useful on the job.

Cheers guys.I opted for a pair of walking shoes/trainers form go outdoors for £40,weatherproof and lightweight and seem comfortable apart from a little movement on the heel which could lead to blistering, any tips how to reduce that? I got a blue pair of walking cargo trousers for £13 from the same store, lightweight and weatherproof too.I walked 10 miles yesterday and my legs are only aching a little bit :dance
