I heard that counters only got a wtl about it at the start of their day yesterday (tuesday). RM have f****d up by not briefing all staff in counters, rm and pf at least a week in advance and has anyone seen any adverts anywhere explaining the changes to the publiceric the viking wrote:I must say it was chaos in the depot today, nobody seemed to know what was going on. Mind you, nor did the sub-post offices!

Any rise in delivery numbers will only filter through tomorrow so I think it's wait and see.

Large parcels down around 50% in the maiilcentre,so i'd thinkthat PF must have a similar sized growth in their workload?

Be a higher increase I think, they didn't have the same volumes to start with. I think you mean if RM have lost 100,000 items, PF have gained them. But I don't think so, some customers have gone to 3rd party couriers like Hermes already. A couple of businesses I go to have. And they did between 500 and 800 parcels a week between them.hubbahubba wrote:Large parcels down around 50% in the maiilcentre,so i'd thinkthat PF must have a similar sized growth in their workload?

Yes,thats what i meant. We were told that a large contract has probably gone this week, mainly medium sized parcels,to a 3rd party.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Be a higher increase I think, they didn't have the same volumes to start with. Makes you wonder why they changed these prices just before they want to sell the company?
Who would buy a company that has just got rid of a large part of the business which is actually a growth stream?

Re: parcelforce workload increase
Someone will. Think it is more likely we will be floated as opposed to sold to another business or single person. Probably be sold piece meal, at least in part, i.e. PF, POC(though I think they're to remain in Government hands and post privatisation will sell services of other couriers like TNT/Hermes etc.). Remember, when we're sold, this is a revenue stream they can reignite - reduce prices and get back business. This is what I think they're doing with PF, RM no longer take oversized, PF business is up, looks profitable, gets sold, then RM will decide to start taking large parcels again. Management are placing us in a position to be privatised, all the while with a plan to turn it round in place, whether or not it will work is another matter.hubbahubba wrote:Yes,thats what i meant. We were told that a large contract has probably gone this week, mainly medium sized parcels,to a 3rd party.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Be a higher increase I think, they didn't have the same volumes to start with. They're deliberately putting RM in a position where it will HAVE to be sold, as it is the only thing that will save it.......they think we're stupid.
