I don't think RM would dispose of the building if they ever shutdown DMC, they might move some of the existing DOs into the building to make a super-do

Told in a union meeting a few weeks ago that RM has no money for new buildings, so what now?The new office (so the rumour goes) will likely be somewhere to the east of Portsmouth to be roughly equidistant from DMC in the west and the current Gatwick (or whatever replaces it by then) MC in the east.
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!

We were told 6 months ago we were getting a new building, that was cancelled in January, they are now spending a fortune on our current building as it isn't fit for purpose. And still won't be afterwards. The reason, according to my manager, is that RM have taken the decision not to spend on new buildings to try and make the company look more viable for privatisation. Then the problems will either be ignored or passed on to be solved in the future. By the time they're finished, they'll have spent so much it will have been cheaper to just get the new buildings.Pompey Boy wrote:Told in a union meeting a few weeks ago that RM has no money for new buildings, so what now?The new office (so the rumour goes) will likely be somewhere to the east of Portsmouth to be roughly equidistant from DMC in the west and the current Gatwick (or whatever replaces it by then) MC in the east.

I wonder if they would be thinking of a wider reshuffle that would involve also JMC and Greenford in the mix as at the problem whilst we are told JMC are the biggest inward operation in the country we are too small for the work and Greenford have been told that they have more scope for work. If they moved BN over to the new replacement MC for PO and SO. RH would be moved over to the new mail centre that is being earmarked for Croydon with KT being put into there as well. SL being moved into JMC and Greenford taking in NDO from the Mount. SE could then moved into the Mount asa replacement. The amazing thing is we Posties could get the job done at half the cost re planning. Alot of this is idle speculation maybe the planners should come on here and have a look as they might learn how to plan.
