Today was extremely light. Out the door at 8.10am and last letter was done at 10.55am. I only have 4 packets for the whole walk and probably 50% call rate.

Jeez. Usual Saturday today. Started at 06:45 (my actual start time is 08:30 but nearly all part-timers come in an hour early every day. How my wife and I laugh). Had about 2 full packet bags, 1.5 perstorps of manual letters, 1.5 perstorps of large letters and 1 box of CSS that was actually sequenced rather than walksorted. Plus what was already in frame. Managed to get out on delivery about 08.40, even though one of my brother workers had decided to steal half my bags that were stored under the frame....thanks fellow worker. We're on the new revision so there are 2 of us doing 2 duties. Eight and a half bags (each) later, plus about 18 extra large packets and a few specials, we were done for 12:45 and got back to office for approx 12:55. Mind you, met a lovely Staffy puppy that cheered me up.

Blimey, how many letters per tray, the standard of ~150 or rediculously full to the brim 300+?

Hammered with packets today, two full pouches for most loops, which at least kept the LWT balanced!

I filled out a load of surcharges a few weeks ago and comfortably got about 250 letters into a tray. Could probably have crammed some more in. But when you consider most of these letters were a little bit thicker than 5mm so getting charged £1.09, it goes to show just how many standard letters you can fit into one.

Actually, sad freak that I am, I counted the total number of letters in the first wave - and there were approx 750, so an average of 250/tray.

250 is the ACF we use at our office for a full tray of sequenced.
Obviously not to be confused with the overall ACF for sequenced mail which is much lower however i have noticed that half empty trays are less common now with bundles and mixed walk trays being used instead(probably to cut costs in network/distribution) so maybe there is a case for revisiting overall ACF's.

Been off line for a few days with a major computer virus issue. Somewhat costly but had to be sorted. Anyway I'm back. Last few days haven't been too bad although it has been rather cold. Been doing a mis sort run to the mail centre this week. Only hard bit is finding the place where the mis sorts are dealt with in the M/C. LOL

First week at a new office after a transfer. The round I'm on is a bit crap but at least I get a bike rather than a trolley.

Crap day. Our P&L regular float is off sick, and my delivery partner didn't want to work his day off so management gave me a "float" who had only done this delivery once.. over a 18 months ago. I ended up having to bag up both deliveries including the cut off, as it was to be dropped off to a postie to do on overtime, as he lives in the area but works doing collections.
12 Tracked items and 18 S/F's, and yes I know it's not a lot by some peoples standard but it's a lot for this delivery and also piles of packets for the third day this week (mainly the regular buyers on Amazon and E-Bay!) We finally left the office 30mins later than normal then got stuck in traffic at some road works with three way traffic lights for ages. Finally started around 10:30 am. Had to split my first loop in to 3 parts to get it done due to all the packets. I then had to switch the next loop with the "float" or he'd have got lost in the flats and shops! Finally ended up back at the office over my time. Booked 45mins excess!
FF it's my day off tomorrow.

No regular float tomorrow but another "guest float" appearance by someone who, no doubt, hasn't covered our deliveries.

Strangely enough the mail seems to be even lighter than normal even for today, discounting the packets that is, so now I'm wondering if this DSA mail issue is part of the light mail "phenomenon" we seem to be having or is it just that the letters volume is dropping in general?
