Had an interview about a month back (didn't go well imo) however recently got a phone call being offered the job (guessing providing checks etc). The job is collections & network driver at 25hpw. Does anyone have any advice/tips on the job and whats the possibility of OT? Any help/advice is really appreciated.

Welcome,most contracts given out are to save money.................but most end up doing overtime because the contract doesn't usually fit the job.

Thanks, I got a start date but have to go to another city for my induction which I thought was strange. Can anyone tell me how the pay works? I understand you get paid at the end of the week for that week you've worked. How does O/T etc come into it if they haven't had chance to work all that out yet? All other jobs I've worked have been either a week in hand or cash in hand.

O/T is paid a week in arrears.
Get yourself a little note pad and mark in everything you've claimed,some managers are notoriously shady when it comes to paying up.
Claim everything you work,don't believe anyone that tells you you aren't entitled to it.
Day 1 in your office seek out your union rep and introduce yourself.
Induction elsewhere is common.

Thanks for the reply, got my email confirming start date etc however it states that they are offering me the job of postman but I was accepted as network & collections driver.Is this a standard royal mail email, and in regards to my contract it says it is being sent out but does it have to be sent back and received by them before the start date?

Can anyone answer me this? My contract says that my job title is postman/postwoman however the job I applied for is network & collections driver is this just a standard title that they use no matter what your role is? Bit of an issue as my last job used a different title when they took me on full time and then changed my job etc without me being able to do anything about it.

I might be wrong but I think the Postman/Postwoman title is generic for all non supervisory roles within Royal Mail, certainly those in MCs are called Postmen eve though they don't do what the general population consider as a traditional posties work. Hopefully the rest of your contract is a bit more clear on your actual role.
