Treat them as knockables, which they are and then take them only as your allocated quota of knockables ie. '20 pkt.s', 20 NT m'ship pacs - a couple of trays worth.

Sorry but what are these so called 'knockables' and what are these so called limits, my office is that they don't care, the managers don't care, the planners don't have a clue so I don't understand a limit on them.
Are we saying that you are now allowed to only take the amount of attendance calls applicable to the number fo delivery points on the walk at a levels of 3%, which the planners use for the revision, even though packet numbers are going through the roof over the last 12 months or so?
Well that is certainly one way of coping with unachieveable walk sizes, but I cannot see how I could convince my lino to agree to this, when I usually have something in the ballpark of 50 attendance call items a day for a ~575 DP walk.
In answer to IloveMYredTROLLEY - I'm 'only' a postman with access to this forum; I'm not the all-knowing fountain of knowledge re. RM, it's procedures, policies or practises.. as I've said before I'm 'just sayin' it as I see it'.
In Sept.'12 revisions were implemented in our office and an attendance call no. was written on each frame eg. '22' - I have no idea how that figure was arrived at.. .
Each frame therefore gets sorted, in this eg. 22, 'knockables'/attendance call items which means anything in excess goes to a 'packet driver' who takes out 'excess knockables' ( those items that cannot be successfully delivered without someone being home to accept ) together with his assigned packets. The packet driver needs to work with his manager to ensure he takes out only those items that he can successfully attempt to deliver in his contracted hours for that day.

Sorry but your whole post make reference to only taking 20 'knockables' with you and unless I've suddenly moved to another dimension........that sounds like a limit.

so, yes, that's the min. no. of attendance call items/'knockables' that round would be required to attempt to deliver a day.. .

Well, this is the Company that had me cover the PHG/Supervision for months, then informed me there was an "extra allowance" for doing so....

deliveres cancelled again today,thats 3 days on the trot for our office,we got some serious mail to shift when we allowed out,so another 7 till 10:30 finish

When delivery method revisions are put in place some extra resources will be required during the initial period.
In some offices that has meant packet duties were continued until the revision had properly bedded in.
I know of one office in Fife that still has these packet duties two years later.
Since his revision was only introduced in september and with Christmas to contend with it's likely that's why they have been taking the "excess knockables" from the duty holders and sending them out with drivers.
The "limit" is unlikely to last.
Sun made an appearance around midday and melted some of the horrid ice on the pavements, but in other parts it was only a partial thaw and those areas will be hell tomorrow if it gets chilly tonight! Took an age to deliver today, some roads getting their first mail since the snow, booked some o/t.
To the casual eye mail might have looked a little high for a Monday, but when you count the letters jammed in the sequence trays and discover they have over twice the proper number, something fishy is going on at the processing depot (with or without the DOM's approval). Why try to con posties into thinking it was a normal day when it was obvious there was a backlog of sequenced from the snow issues?
3 days worth of parcels to get out. Icy/snowy...melting in some place, but not all.
Parked on a slight hill, put van in reverse, hand brake hard on...got back into the van and it started MOVING ON THE ICE!
I know I put weight on over Xmas, buy that's ridiculous!
Only took a few back, was Minus 1 when I got back, and dark.
Double day - thanks to a partial P&L and most of the vans being parked off site but the drivers being unable to get them because of the uncleared roads yesterday we took it all today. 2 light days = 1 heavy day - but worked to time and went only where I assessed it to be safe. Knackered though its more energy sapping trying to walk through all this dandruff.

Tough day walking on packed ice on pavements and then into snow on un cleared driveways. Kills the tops of your legs
Mostly below freezing and 5hr 15min to get around. Had 15 rec's That did not help.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
Glorious sunshine today (once the sun rose - 05:00 start) and continuing with the theme, no snow. I'm learning a duty delivering to and collecting from rural offices and then a number of boxes. 4 ferry rides total and some brilliant time watching a family of three otters nice and close.
A different delivering/collecting duty tomorrow but only one ferry and most likely some sorting pm.
Thank god the thaw is almost complete! Made delivering a little easier, good job as it was an awful workload even by normal Wednesday standards, left >25% and finished on time doing the job properly by the skin of my teeth.
That did not help.
