Mr trolley, I cudn't agree more. But, in my Place you would be seen as a Firebrand/Trouble Maker...Yes, I know it SHOULDN'T be that way, but I live in the Real World, not RM's Perfect World. ( Theft and Assault are against the Law. but people still do it daily. It's just the way of the world...unfortunately/sadly.)
The System stinks, they rely on us doing their job, out of fear of the dole line for us in the longterm.
They got rid of someone recently for too many Stages...no thought for his family etc. Yes, Sickness/Stages impact on us all...but the Postie wasn't a lead swinger/bad person, but they've gone.
Ill have to have a SERIOUS look at what happens next time, as there WILL be a Next Time...I'm obviously aware of what we shudnt do...but, for a quiet life - and I know it isnt RIGHT - there are probably a few more at our place who think the same way.
Two wrongs DONT make a right, but Im sure others feel the pressure to get the mail delivered at any costs.
You are right, and Im wrong, sorry...but I feel trapped/cornered as do many others.

Yep, snow..friday. What's the deal on delivering? Took a flyer on unseen black ice few years back, not doing that again.
So, driving, walks etc will be well dodgy...Was told by a Manager one year, "It's ok, its cleared up at *****", after the worst snow for years.
Got there, and the drifts were OVER THE VAN ROOF HEIGHT, no joking!
They get u by the balls as whatever u bring back, u have to do the next day...1.5 days more mail in the same amount of time.
It doesn't compute, as Spock wud say.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
In a word.......... Brilliant
First day in the job, and I'll be doing evening collections.
So no slogging around a round, no having to deal with Joe Public, no weekend working (Mon to Fri only), no early mornings, and no pressure to do overtime.
The hours I've been offered give me the perfect work life balance, and the pay is enough to keep the wolf from the door.
I'm sure there will be "challenges" in the not too distant future, but at the moment things are looking pretty damn good.

I love the snow, even the crappiest of estates look nice covered in snow.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Today was the our first trail/test of the Park and Loop thingy. Not good.
1st Loop: Lad I was with took the "Tony Jacklin golf trolley", I took a normal shoulder bag. ( Both were similar weights, amount, packets etc.)
I got back to the vehicle - he had the keys - had to wait 27 mins. And , NO I wasn't rushing etc. Not in the rain/sleet.
2nd Loop: Similar result, but 16 min wait for him...
So, the Hare and Tortoise thing works...on paper or with pretty coloured strings!

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Familiarity, never used the trolley before. Was shown the "correct procedures" in 30 secs...even the boss didnt know how it worked at first.
I wonder how long its gonna be before someones at the top of a houses step, to return and find the trolley..GONE!
Bags have worked for many years, so don't see what advantages the trolleys have...yet.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
I'm sure the shoulder bags have been around for decades...and RM have undertaken many tests/assessments to ensure its "safe" within reason. So, if 9kgs is a problem, then maybe some Strength/Strength endurance training might be needed.
