Sequencing on Ilsm (staffing levels)

Some info needed here guys.
Been told by a manager(sigh) that there is a national agreement that states that only 2 operators are required when sequencing on the ilsm machines. Ive yet to find any such agreement when I've researched and can only find the guidelines that state 3 staff are needed to run the machine. Help

It can be run with two, but they can't pull you up for figures, and you will have to run it down when you go to collect mail as it has to have at least two staff on a machine!

They can stick their blasted figures and OEE, that goes without saying. I'm more concerned about losing 1/3 of duties just on the say so of a manager, seemingly without any evidence of an agreement.

3.2 iLSMs

Each machine will be manned by three operators (one on the feeder and two on the sorters), and separate porters will need to be specified and available for the feeder and sorters. There will be a minimum 5 people trained per iLSM. Duty patterns will be structured to ensure that individuals rotate around the roles during their shift; this will be mandatory. All duty structures will be subject to agreement locally.

This is the only section in any agreement that covers off staffing levels for ilsm work??

They are trying the same thing in my mail centre and operators were also told it was a "national agreement", complained to the union and apparently the word was that they just had to "get on with it".

edit: incidentaly, for a small (sub 15k) batch having just two operators isn't much of a loss. The problem is things like OEE, which has been mentioned previously, including the 'agreed' setup/prep and cleardown times being affected. Also there is the health and safety aspect of neither operator being able to move away from the machine for a toilet break e.t.c

the agreement says 3 on an ilsm and that is what our mail centre stick to. Its part of operating procedure and agreement between royal mail and the cwu. The french manufacturer simply said it could be 2 in the manuals .However we have an agreement nationally and people should stick to it.If you want an accident to happen because the operators are under too much pressure then that is what could happen . why do people make do when they should be standing up and saying this is agreed and for the safety and protection of staff!!

Changed shifts at work, and have gone from 3 staff per machine to 4.

Although the 4th person is mainly a porter, they do come and help out on the machine when they can.

in the agreement its says 3 operators plus 2 porters
