Dvla + passport ?

Post by TFL001 »

Does anyone out there know why only some post offices can't provide passport forms and car tax and others can ??? I work in a sub office and most of our customers will not travel to other offices for their car tax so they will go online. This must he losing sales for pol and not help sub postmasters in this bad time ... The more products offices can offer the better for network ??

Hi

I will try and answer the questions.

When we buy an office, we pay a premium for one with Car Tax and Passport Check and Send. The Clients i.e. IPS and DVLA set the number of offices which can provide these services and it is closely controlled.

However, as part of the new DVLA contract which POL have won (no-one is totally sure what they have won!) there will be additional offices given DVLA work, presumably MVL issue but this isn't clear at the moment. This potentially means offices like mine, which have done MVL's for many years, will potentaiily do less and reduce my income. I know this sounds very selfish but as I said earlier, I paid a premium to buy an office with MVL.

I hope this answers the question.

What I forgot to say (as on this Forum you can't see the original posting) was that only Check and Send Offices can stock and issue forms. They are closely controlled by POL and IPS (the Passport Office).

Thanks Paul, I can see your point .. it seems stupid to me still that every office can't provide these services, regardless of pay it keeps the customers coming through all are doors, you never know they might buy a stamp or two :pray ... Thanks for your reply
