Postman bitten on the face by pensioner’s dog

I'm sure if a Japanese Akita bit you on the face it would be more that a minor injury,sounds to me like it's been blown up out of all proportion.

The injury hasn't as you point out, but as to the attack being blown out of proportion depends on your experiences I suppose, myself, personally, an Akita jumping up to my face is frightening in itself.

I think its dangerous ground to measure an attack based on the injuries sustained. An attack is an attack.

True,but a dog leaping up at you is hardly an attack,I see a dog attack as meaning the dog has actually got hold off you and done some damage,this sounds like a old person is unable to control his dog properly,having got large dogs myself I always give people like that a wide berth,in the same way that I keep my wits about me to avoid walking in dog sh=t,not saying the postie is at fault because like you say an Akita is a big animal and would be frightening having it jump at you.But if you are aware of your surroundings this incident almost certainly wouldn't have happened.

ALAN JACK was sent to a plastic surgery unit in Glasgow after the attack while working and Royal Mail have suspended all deliveries to the address as a result.

A POSTMAN was seriously injured after being bitten on the face by a dog.

Alan Jack suffered a horror wound to his nose in the attack as he did his rounds in Stirling on Monday.

Our sister paper the Stirling Observer reported that he was treated locally before being sent to a plastic surgery unit in Glasgow.

Royal Mail have suspended deliveries to the address where the attack happened. Spokeswoman Sarah Barclay said: “We take very seriously the safety of our employees, particularly our frontline staff who deliver the mail.

“Unfortunately, dog attacks are a hazard faced by our postmen and women every day and our first priority is to ensure the welfare and safety of our people who provide a valuable service to our customers. We seek the co-operation of our customers and encourage the public to take responsibility for keeping their pets under control.”

I think you are getting mixed up,the incident I am talking about is different "The 53-year-old postal worker was attacked by the large Akita breed in Meadowburn, Bishopbriggs, at around 11am on Wednesday, November 14".
