I had two older bikes that I sold to fetch half the money, so it wasn't as crazy a buy as it seems on paper. The funny thing is, everyone always assumes I mean a motorbike when I say bike. When they see that it's a push-bike ... I guess it's an indulgence. If you're not prepared to spend money on your hobbies, you may as well run a hot bath, dig the razors out, and start cutting.fng wrote:taurus88 wrote:Nice day lying in, went into town for a full English with the bro. I do not have tendonitis. Or rather, I do not have JUST tendonitis.
I have patellofemoral pain syndrome, which is exacerbated by my inwardly pointing knees.
I need physio - which the NHS is providing. I need less exercise. I need a new job.
I can do light duties, though. I even have a 'fitness for work' note saying so.
If they don't want me to do light duties, I'll be spending a lot of time at home!

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
I've had pretty good days since last Tuesday's 'problem' customer, despite the rain last Thursday. I even got through having to deliver a replacement item to the same place, he didn't answer the door so I left it by the door (its an internal door so as safe as things can be) as he had cleared stated that it was ok to do so. I must be doing ok enough as I'm being trusted with Special Deliveries from now on!

Another "light Monday" full of marketing mail that made the call rate >90% and prep took an age, only blessing packets were light, still needed a fair o/t chunk to complete.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Went into work today. Handed in my 'fitness for work' note. Do they want me in on light duties? ... No.
See you in two weeks, then.
Good news is I'm allowed to go to the gym again. Upper body only, but it's better than cooping oneself up in the house.
I'm also allowed to do a bit of cycling
. Nothing too strenuous, but half an hour a couple of times a week.
The problem itself isn't so bad that I cannot do 'any' exercise. It's just that a prolonged period of delivery time - anything over that half an hour or so threshold - is deemed to be too strenuous to be worth the risk. Cycling meanwhile is a low contact exercise that doesn't involve that constant pounding motion of your knees on concrete.
Swimming is something else I'm allowed to do, but I'm a pretty useless swimmer.

New delivery revision, nightmare, helped an other postie out today who was on a P&L, fully laden, no van as other partner keeps it . no sharing of duty. Thats the tip of the iceberg, at least Christmas is not going to be hell, at that point already.

Very few letters.
Very low call rate.
Dawdled and still finished early.

Didn't miss a house today plus the packets where through the roof, still, it gave the managers something to do on a Saturday morning

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Saturdays are an absolute joke nowadays.
Between 12 noon and 1.45pm, when I'm still out on delivery, I'm lucky if I manage to deliver a total of 2 packets/recordeds from perhaps as many as 20+ for that last 1hr 45mins.
The remainder, a quite substantial number, are 73nined and brought back to the office.
People are highly unlikely to be in doors on a Saturday afternoon, just moping about waiting for us to deliver yet more trash from estate agents etc.
Was never like this when we finished at a sensible time on Saturday.
No postie should be tramping the streets after 12 noon on a Saturday.
