is it due on last Friday before Christmas or first Friday of December ? Just asking.

Yes it is. There is a national agreement on Christmas which has now been endorsed by the PEC and includes the pay dates and the ex iwm Christmas bonus.

Dvbuk the role of the PEC is to oversee conference decisions and that includes ensuring there is an agreement in place which will allow negotations to starts on pre scheduled hours in mail centres , RDCs , VOCs , collection hubs and delivery offices. Bearing in mind that christmas this years falls on the Tuesday that weekend will be heavy and may require a packet operation on sunday.

Christmas maybe two months away but unless you been involved in christmas negotations you wont understand the fact that it takes some considerable time to achieve an agreement at local or area level.

And does all that guff preclude a notice to members to the effect "the following agreement has been suggested for christmas arrangements and the PEC is minded to agree unless there are some compelling reasons not to" - you know the sort of thing dingo - a sort of semblance that the membership is included.
Negotiating, dingo, is not witchcraft and I have negotiated in the past but that's not really relevant - particularly as I was negotiating from the opposite side of the fence.

Christmas on a Tuesday - bet that's never happened before.

Whilst you are in a communicative mood dingo is there any news on the 75/25 FT/PT split because it seems to be taking a considerable amount of time for RM to be forthcoming.

They are letting us have Tuesday as a gesture of goodwill.

No they are letting us have tuesday and wednesday off to show how stressful being at home with the kids and the in-laws is.

Royal Mail have to apply for a non service day to off comm and certainly off comm would not even consider it the day before christmas. Non service days have always been after christmas day.

Equally a few years ago Royal Mail used to make sure you worked the hours from the non service day in the rest of the week. The union stopped that and now there is no clawback of hours.

How difficult would it have been to arrange final deliveries on Saturday? Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday what a nice break that would have been - wonder if any of the negotiators will be in on that Monday?
