Hello! (And Pre Employment Checks)

Post by bobbins »

Hiya, Ive copied a post that I think I put in the wrong place yesterday. I really would like a reply if anyone knows - the post is below.

Ive been conditionally offered a job as a Postie :nana but I'm worried about my sickness record! I don't go off sick but this year (very recently) I've been off for 2 months   (genuine reason of course). I am now fully recovered and am looking foward to starting but I'm wondering if this sick leave will count against me during the pre employment checks? I have a very good relationship with my current employers and I will get a good reference, It's just the issue of the sick leave. Could someone please put my mind at rest and tell me that it's not a problem!

Thanks in advance :wave And hello by the way (first post)

I doubt that previous sick record would be a problem.

The background checks are to make sure that you have no criminal record or that you will not present a risk if you start working for Royal Mail. They might do a bankruptcy and credit check (but not even sure they do that).

Sickness record is most likely to come up if they check a reference, and even then your previous employer has to follow certain guidelines as to what information they can release.

I wouldn't worry about it, but I would prepare a well thought out response in case they contact you asking for details, but I think its unlikely.
