Pretty sh*t day.

Cut off with about four bags - three quarters of a walk.

We left two on the fitting and brought another two back. The manager then cornered me and claimed that he'd told me to take the two bags we left out with me - even though I didn't bag up, or do anything. Then he wanted me to throw the mail back into the fitting AFTER I'd cut-off - three times I had to explain that time was up as he became ever more coercive and evil-eyed. To be quite honest, it struck me as round one of intimidation bordering on bullying.

He then walked off spouting some gibberish about 'one day I'll need something from him'.

Presumably he's not going to give it me. What am I going to need? New shoes? Advice on how to handle a failing park & loop revision without going over the edge? New pouches? I found it all very bizarre :Very Happy.

I'd best watch my back though or there'll be a charge of wilful delay on the horizon. You know what they're like. Might start asking for specific instructions on cutting off each morning, in writing, with a signature. Thus the element of doubt shall be removed entirely.

I honestly had no f*cking idea what he was on about. The thing is, before that he was trying to really put the pressure on me - tone of voice, etc. Like it was the most serious thing in the world and there was going to be a sh*t-storm because of it. Personally I'm very deadpan and don't really change my attitude so it comes across as being a bit drawling and maybe even slightly flustered no matter what situation I'm in. That's because I've never really mastered the art of communicating on a one-to-one level. I think managers think if they corner me and try and switch up the intimidation factor, I'll cave in. Luckily for me at work I think my reputation is closer to that of a thicko than anything.

But, even though I'm not very good at getting a point across, I NEVER surrender my ground. I'd rather walk out the door with my p45 in hand than do what some others do. Like those at the moment who have abandoned the trollies, are on docket everyday, and are so far up the manager's arse, it's hard to know where the manager ends and the postman begins. Anyway, it's boiling up a bit now for those of us who aren't like that. Managers are having to work their hours for the first time in years (first time ever more like) and they're cracking. Clandestine meets on the shop-floor culminate in much stroking of chins, much worry spread across the face. I think I'm gonna have a bit of fun with it if I can. All within the bounds of the rules, of course, and without compromising my "professional" integrity.

Good day today, nice weather. Very heavy as usual but managed to cut off two very full bags between us. We dont even bother informing managers anymore, just bring it back, I think the managers just take it as read that its coming back.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

They kept some people in on the IPS today and also had management & planners segging. Gonna be a heavy day tomorrow. Management appear not to know where all the mail is coming from, the forecast tool appears to have gone tits up :chuckle :chuckle I'm wondering if all this stuff has been circling the M25 for months due to RM hierarchy visiting offices. :hmmmm Oh and they want volunteers for Sunday :cuppa
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Same here SP, so much stuff coming in that everybody is called onto ips these mornings, can't wait for the new indoor flow thingy which cuts our IPS staff from the 10 (which isn't enough) down to 6 :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

It staggered me as well. What favour would I need?

I don't do overtime, I have rich parents to beggar aid from should things go ridiculously tits up. He can put me on any walk in the office and I'll do the job exactly the same. It seemed like utter babble to me. Maybe he's a seer, though, and has looked into the future and seen that one day I'll be staggering through town in the midst of the apocalypse, seeking refuge. There he'll be, grinning from tooth-to-tooth, watching me breathe my last as I beg for help.

I dunno. Utterly confusingly incomprehensibly madly mental.

Finished about the same time as yesterday only it was a lot drier. :Very Happy Had to laugh this morning .... said to the gaffer he was lucky to have been in a nice dry office and a nice warm car to go home in. He suddenly snapped and said he had a soaking wet stormproof in the car and that he'd had to go and deliver at an office a few miles away. Happy days! Anyway, apparently he'd had to go and deliver at another office a few miles away today. Hope it rained there. :chuckle
