Re: The "How was your day" thread.
worst day for a long time .shed loads of mail.
word is that our local mail centre has been failing this week
so the flow has suddenly increased as they caught up!
Very heavy with holiday mags and autumn catalogs. dom still had the cheek to suggest absorption...
and got the biggest jeer /laugh of the day.
late off ips late going out & late back.

Very busy, extended for 1 hour OT but did not absorb, spoke to one of the runners with an easy walk and he said he finished 2.5 hrs before me!
He is a nice enough bloke so i don't resent it but it can get a bit soul destroying at times.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
As I arrived at my first delivery point the door was open. As I put the mail inside a blonde appeared with a cup of coffee in one hand and a plate of croissants in the other,
Breakfast?
I said. But it isn't my last day.
She just looked at me blankly but I thought it was so funny I peed myself on her doorstep.

Well as expected it was heavy today with the lot we dodged on sat
Had National Trust mags on top as well.
Broke it down road by road on the bike and finished bang on time. A lot cooler today which helped as well.
One funny thing happened. A postie who always uses his car had to go out on a bike as his clutch has gone. Nearly killed him
I think he would welcome park and poop.

Plenty of flats on today. DSA was about normal. Strangely, the packets were down today. One or two people have returned to work from holidays which should mean more staff available. Had quite a few off sick for one reason or another although there are still a few missing. Got caught in a shower about 12.30 but it's still very humid here.

We actually saw the end loop on our walk today, my F/T guy has been on the walk 4 weeks and completed 3 times, i've been on it a week and today was the first day without any cutt off and finished on time to the minute. Roll on Wed, so we can get back to cutting off.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Typically silly P & L day.
Lots of walks have been failing on three/four/five trays of mail on prep alone, then cutting off with what little they're given. I think I've cut off every day for three weeks, except for the first day where I booked overtime to gauge where things were at.
Mate of mine got a verbal warning for leaving half a dozen saga catalogues in a tray last year. Now we're seeing a Tuesday's worth of mail on the floor at stumps some days. I actually got back to the office today and there were walks where the mail that failed this morning had been thrown out by the indoor bods. It was probably closer to a usual Monday's mail.
Of course, it's all going to get better. The DSM has been in the office, apparently. The overtime budget has been slashed - which is clearly going to have a positive effect
. Supposedly this is just the 'bedding in' period. A bedding in period where none of the indoor work is getting done, where people are regularly cutting off DESPITE failing on three trays of mail PER WALK. A bedding in period that began in and has thus far mostly encompassed the lighter weeks of the year.
I've been warned by a friend that the B & H is about to begin. Let the games commence.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Finished a few minutes early. 7 Recorded items. Not many packets in total so I expect quite a few more tomorrow. Got 5 D2D contracts this week so the frame is rammed full in sections. Rained early on but too warm for the coat so I put up with it until it stopped. Had the team brief about the new procedure of leaving items at a neighbours. Big waste of time if you ask me.
