I am a newbie here. I hope you can help me, please.
I am abroad at the mo. I told my husband to post a parcel to my friend who is staying at a hotel in London. My husband took pictures of the contents plus we have the receipts. The parcel was posted on 13/8/12 and Royal Mail automated line and website indicate that it was delivered before 9:16 PM on 14/8/12.
My friend has been asking for the parcel and the hotel staff keep advising her that they have not got anything delivered for her.
I found this forum via Google. I opened Tweeter account and tweeted a message to Royal Mail and sent and email to Customer Service, too. The reasons for doing all of them are that my husband is killing me BIG time, my friend is leaving the UK by Friday night and the items in there are for my friend's business. I am likely going to have to help her with the loss! I am so worried and mad with my luck! Royal Mail services are usually very good. But I am worried that because the parcel was sent to a hotel, I am going to lose out on the parcel and compensation whilst money is tight!
QUESTIONS:
- Based on your experience, is the parcel likely going to turn up?
- How likely am I going to get any compensation?
- Can I ask the hotel to do anything to help? Maybe, written confirmation that they have not received it? Will check CCTV at the time of supposed delivery and Concierge records help?
- If you have any ideas or tips, feel free to tell me, please.

Sorry about my delay. I thought I would get an email when someone replied to my post here. But I did not.
I have to say that apart from some certain monthly magazines keep going missing, the Royal Mail service is the best for me. The said problem could be down to other factors not just the Royal Mail has lost them, to be fair.
