Hi all :)
I have a quick question for you all regarding track and trace.
Basically I ordered a specialist item that only one company in the UK stocks and unfortunately they only offer recorded delivery...
The item was bought around the 20th July and sent on the 23rd.
On Friday I checked the tracking number and was horrified to see this message:
We have a record of item JX031186013GB as being delivered from Sarisbury Green DO on 2012-07-26
I was out at work on that day and I'm the only one who lives in my house, no card was in amongst my post and no neighbours have come forward to say that they have it.
I've checked the address on the order and it's definitely correct there, what's going on?!
I've never in all my years had a problem with Royal Mail loosing anything, I've always had the utmost respect for them being able to deliver such good service given the amount sent through them.
The monetary value of this item is tiny it's the fact that it's the last one in existence! So I'd rather it wasn't lost for good.

Re: Recorded and Track&Trace
Looks like it was sent as an RM 'Tracked' item, not all 'Tracked' items need a signature, it depends on what options the sender has chosen. Is the item something that would fit through your lettter box? Did you have any 'safe place' option selected when placing the order for the item?Your tracked items details

Re: Recorded and Track&Trace
I Post via Royal Mail Tracked.. the package usually has a purple 'Tracked' sticker stuck on the front and then above the delivery address it either states 'signature required' or 'No signature required' - I always find ones with signature required get taken back if no one is in and the no signature required get left with neighbours or in a shed/cupboard but with no card left to say this has been done so I always get customers to check and the package is usually located!
The last one I had a problem with though the customer came through extremely irate a week after it was showing as delivered demanding to know where her Item was, I got her to check with neighbours either side etc and no one had taken the package in, so I got in touch with Royal Mail Customer Services and the lady asked for both mine and my customers details said she'd look into it and contact me back (have had that said many times with no contact back!)
she phoned me the following morning she had contacted customers DO, spoke with the postman, he had no problems remembering the 'Tracked' item and was able to give her the address of where he left it!.... Turned out he had left it with the person who backed onto her house so not even in same street.... If your able to speak with you postman one day this week he may actually remember the package? its worth a try
Aside from the odd postman not leaving anything to say where the package has been left tracked is an excellent service... post around 200 tracked items a day with no problems of them getting lost which was happening all the time when sending via 'Recorded Delivery'!
