Non-Delivered Parcel

I went out for a short time yesterday and missed a Parcel Force next-day delivery. No-one has ever delivered to us before lunchtime so I thought I was on safe ground to pop out. Silly me.

The driver (from the Aldershot depot) left a card stating that the delivery was going to be taken to the Crown Wood post office - which doesn't deliver to my area (I'm in north-west Bracknell, Crown Wood is on the south side). But that I would have to wait 24 hours for it to be delivered there. I presume this means that it gets taken back to the Aldershot depot and re-delivered to the post office overnight. Helpfully the driver didn't put the parcel ID number on the card, so I have no means of tracking its progress.

So I went to the parcel force web site yesterday and, using my address and attempted delivery date, re-scheduled the delivery for today.

I've waited in all morning today, and parcel force haven't turned up. They had been and gone by this time yesterday so either they are working a different schedule, or they won't be re-delivering to me as expected. The parcel force web site doesn't send out email confirmations when you arrange a re-delivery so I've no idea whether my instruction went into the system.

So I'm now in the quandrary of not knowing whether they are going to re-deliver to me, or whether they will have sent the package to the remote post office which doesn't serve my area. And I can't go and check because they might try to re-deliver to me whilst I'm out.

I am absolutely appalled with this situation. I could have driven to Aldershot to pick the package up yesterday, but thanks to parcel force this delivery has been seriously delayed. I paid for next day delivery on Monday and it looks like I'll be lucky to get it this week!

At least wait till the evening to moan about not getting it on a particular day, there's hours more yet it could arrive in.

Make a reasonable assumption - if it takes 24 hours for the parcel to get to the Crown Wood office, it's not going to be able to get there, back to Parcelforce and out to you for the next day. Take this into account when arranging a redelivery. The confusion is down to you arranging it to be confusing.

You could have gotten it by going to Crown Wood today and collecting it, instead you opted to have it put back into the system.

When you arranged redelivery you should have been presented with the tracking number. Track it and see where it has got to?

Crown Wood isn't remote by any stretch of the imagination.

When they left the card to say its been left at the PO that means you go and collect it from there. They do that for your convenience so you can collect in your own time and not have to travel to the PF depot.

Which is what I did in the end. I recall that previously when parcel force have failed to deliver they've been good enough to drop the parcel off at the local post office, shortly after they failed to deliver to me - which was fine. This time they decided to drop it off at a post office the other side of town, and I couldn't collect it until the following day. Which I don't consider is fine - maximum inconvenience for me both in terms of having to drive much further - and potentially it could mean having to take another day off work.

I'm sure it's down to progress, to improve profitability or some such.

Maybe it's because the nearer PO doesn't take the packets anymore, or it's closed or some other reason.

I know it isn't closed, it's the main post office for Bracknell (mind you, most of Bracknell seems to be closed if you note the number of boarded-up shops :)).

Not taking packets seems a little unlikely, however who knows? Probably an MBA somewhere crunched the numbers and decided some progress was required.
Life seemed much simpler before MBA's became popular.
