A THIEF has been jailed for 26 weeks after he stole 22 televisions from a Bolton delivery firm using their own van.
Keith Shaw, aged 38, of Simpson Road, Boothstown, stole the TVs from the Yodel parcel delivery firm at Beehive Mill, Bolton Crown Court heard.
On June 13, Shaw loaded a Yodel works vehicle with 10 flat screen televisions, worth £3,000 in total, and stole them.
Julian Goode, prosecuting, said another man sold nine of the televisions for £400 later that evening.
The following day Shaw went back to the mill where, the court heard, his co-accused positioned a van in the loading bay and another 12 televisions with 32-inch screens were loaded into it.
But shift manager Mark Lancashire, realising no televisions were due out for delivery that day, became suspicious and confronted Shaw, who was in the van’s driving seat.
The van lunged forward, crashing into another vehicle, and Shaw tried to run off.
Mr Lancashire and other Yodel employees chased and caught him.
The other man was detained by security staff as he left the mill.
Shaw claimed he had been given £70 and some drugs for taking part in the burglary.
Kimberley Morton, defending, said Shaw had previously beaten a drug habit and been on methadone for 15 years, but had recently relapsed into taking heroin and crack cocaine.
Sentencing Shaw to 26 weeks in jail, Judge Peter Davies told him: “You took advantage of very easy pickings.”
Shaw pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one of aggravated vehicle taking without consent.
The other man has denied theft and is due to face trial at Bolton Crown Court.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
