Missing parcels

Post by CTBM »

Over the Past 2 week some of my Parcels have stopped turning Up In the Bradford Area.

2 missing parcels have been sent through Royal Mail 2nd Class From 2 entirely different locations Small letter sized packet from London and a Large parcel from Wakefield. Both Dispatched on the 2nd of July.

I trust both people who sent them and I'm just asking if anyone has had such delays where the parcels turn up a couple of weeks later or if they Are never seen again.

EDIT: I can't contact the local Delivery office as they never answer the phone , not even in the mornings and when i visit in person unless i have a red card they tell me to sod off.

Oh dear - its possible you have hit the triumvirate of Mail Centre closures.

I am based and live in the HD area and we are fed by Bradford MC. Just a bit of background Bradford MC is closing and everything is moving to Sturton in Leeds, recently even for us in Royal Mail we have noticed a decline in how the mail is presented and this may be having an effect on customers as well.

Unfortunately Wakefield comes under Sheffield Mail Centre, which is also closing, and Mail Centres in London are also undergoing changes and closures.

None of this is either an excuse or a reason for why you haven't got your packets, but is a bit of background into whats going on. My recommendation is to put a claim in as soon as the 15 days has passed, but for future items I strongly suggest sending at a minimum "Recorded Delivery" but its important or worth more than £40 then send it "Special Delivery"

Thanks for some insight into this, This may explain the Wakefield parcel although I've received parcels from the same London location 4 days after the lost parcel, either that or it could be hit or miss. My parcels come from the Bradford North office.

An update, The small packet sent on the 2nd from London has arrived today. Just waiting on the large packet. Is Definitely a delay.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully the last parcel will not be long.

The sender had to file a claim for lost parcel on the large packet, it's pretty ridiculous considering Bradford is within throwing distance of Wakefield. 2 more packet sized parcels have gone missing as well, funnily enough all this started the 1st of July.

Ask to speak to a manager at the callers office.

They wont entertain an enquiry from someone waiting on something unless its believed that mail is being stolen.
