£211m profit = £100 bribe
Is it a true that CWU agreed a £100 business performance bonus instead of collegue shares payment which should of been around £1500. The company announce a profit of £211 million we're working our balls off and we get peanuts. Well done Dave and Billy, might as well chuck £3.33 a week down the drain!

Re: £211m profit = £100 bribe
What there is no doubt about was the timing and rush to get the performance bonus in and paid....before the profits were announced.
That was why we were paid the £100 in June rather than wait until Christmas when the bonus will be paid in future.
That was a blatant attempt to head off criticism and deflect members from the obvious questions concerning profits and the alleged "zero value" of the colleagueshare scheme.

Please read you LTB's guy's!
There is an ongoing independent audit of the financial and legal aspects surrounding the Colleague Share Scheme and the results will be published in due course.
£100 was nothing to do with Colleague Shares.
NOT THAT I EXPECT ANYTHING TO COME OF THE INVESTIGATION!

From the LTB:
Does anyone know when the results of this valuation are due to be released? Finally, CWU members deserve a fuller explanation of what happened to Colleagueshare and the Union has now ensured this will happen in an open and transparent way for all employees following the independent validation.

Re: £211m profit = £100 bribe
I have took Dingo's advice and donated my `bribe` to a good cause.
I sent half of my bribe money to the CWU legal department as they are obviously short of funds
and the other half to a university hospital researching for better skin grafts so Billy and Dave etc can gow a pair the useless feckers.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09

Re: £211m profit = £100 bribe
Ok I would like to ask a couple of questions to get things straight in my head.
1. Colleague shares was between the government and Royal mail, the Union had no part in it yes or no?
2. The Union was against colleague shares from the start, yes or no?
Any answers greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The colleagueshare scheme was between Royal Mail and it's employees. The wanderer wrote:1. Colleague shares was between the government and Royal mail, the Union had no part in it yes or no?
The Government agreed the process for valuing the shares.
The union was excluded from this process.
Since the union represents the majority of employees in Royal Mail and are in all essence employed by the membership and as we are constantly told...the members are the union it would be more correct to say CWU HQ had no part in it...we,the members did.
I would say HQ were more ambivalent towards it than against it.2. The Union was against colleague shares from the start, yes or no?
They certainly did not have any real policy or campaign to oppose it and no vote was ever put to the membership on withdrawal.
As we all know they were quite happy to use the money from it to "plump up" the transformation lump sums and include the final two payments in the reward section of BT2010...which we never received.
Always beware those who try to rewrite history.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Re: £211m profit = £100 bribe
As for rewriting history ft, what do you think dingo and the CWU would be saying if the Colleague Share money HAD been paid out.......now there would be something for the history book...............it must be increasingly tiresome keep making excuses for the failures of the union, wouldn't it be wonderful to have a successful outcome to report.fishtank wrote:I would say HQ were more ambivalent towards it than against it.They certainly did not have any real policy or campaign to oppose it and no vote was ever put to the membership on withdrawal. As we all know they were quite happy to use the money from it to "plump up" the transformation lump sums and include the final two payments in the reward section of BT2010...which we never received.Always beware those who try to rewrite history.

So much for Equality managers get their best bonus yet and we settle for a poxy £100 pro rata, shame on the cwu for accepting this. All profits should be divided equally from Moya right down.

Re: £211m profit = £100 bribe
I have one question.
How many managers are there and how many Posties, divide the total pot and therein lies the proof on inequality.
Does anyone have any figures for the total management bonus bill or a rough estimate of how many managers we actually do have?
Apparently we have 130,000 postal workers.

I have one question.
If this £100 is meant to be Colleague Share money why on the recent pay statement is it shown as "Bonus Payment Business Performance" not something like the "Colleagueshare Local Dividend" and "ColleagueShares Group Dividend" of April and May 2008 ?

Re: £211m profit = £100 bribe
Question 1 answer yes Question 2 answer yes. The CWU havent screwed anyone on colleague shares in fact theyve done very well in increasing our Xmas bonus they were wary of it from the start and to secure us anything from something that we are continually being told is worth nothing should be commended.Royal Mail management have screwed us with it but the door was always open for them to do this i get quite suprised that anybody expected anything else when it comes to colleague shares it was no suprise to me when they did us over.I do however after years of negotiations believe the union need to come up with a decent bonus scheme for the members that actually pays out every year because frankly since i joined the company most of the schemes have been rubbish apart from share in success they should of fought to keep that scheme open.I do also remember the Flexibility bonus when we were paid 400 pounds for doing nothing but that was a one off however like i say it was for nothing so was very goodThe wanderer wrote:Ok I would like to ask a couple of questions to get things straight in my head.

Re: £211m profit = £100 bribe
I don't recall the union during the negotiations say that the colleague share scheme was a baker. In fact to the contrary as it was shown in the rewards section. Only when there was no money in the pot did the union say that they disagreed with it. Now we are at the crux again where yet another incentive scheme is being offered and with what guarantees? I just wonder how the union would have reacted if the money had been paid out, would they still have disapproved or would it have been another case of "look what we got for you"?
