Preserving health and real safety in Royal Mail Offices.
Hello. My name is Hilary Murray and I have worked part time at the Manchester APC for fourteen years. I have long had an interest in the working application of health and safety training and safeguards for all of us at work. I have pressed for helpful changes both as a CWU H&S Rep and as a private employee. I am coming to the end of an Environmental Health training course now (Env. Health Officer training) and I would like to use my training to help any of my colleagues who are having problems in their own workplaces by, at least, informing you of your rights to protection from known workplace hazards under the law. I have also been trained by RM as a harassment listener. Like others, I want the company to thrive and I believe that better training and application of H&S laws already there is the best way to help the company to prosper with us all working safely. Can I invite any of my colleagues at any level who have a question to offer, to do so in this forum. Hilary Murray M.A. Aff. IOA

Hi Hilary, welcome to the forum, where do I stand (painfully) with my worn out feet problems caused by long walks over 17 years ?
I don't mean as a temporary fix but I reckon my feet will never get better for the rest of my life!

Re: Preserving health and real safety in Royal Mail Offices.
Hello Hilary , I work in a fully revised office .Presently our deliveries take over 4hr30mins , most of us struggle to complete within in our time.
The issue is that I believe along with a large number of other post persons in our office that the workload is too much for our bodies to take - The daily battering my legs/joints take has never been this bad (postman for over 15years) if this continues I predict that something is going to give in to the daily strain and end up permanently damaged.
If this issue is raised with the management it's then a 'performance issue' , basically what i'm saying is that we are as a company on the brink of a epidemic of sickness and absence due to what we are physically capable of doing i.e. too much. i must reiterate that this isn't just my opinion but a worry held by many

Might be wasting your time boys.
For someone who invited comments she didn't stick around long to hear them.
20 minutes to be precise and hasn't been back on since.
