When would you hand in your notice

Post by Shephard99 »

Hi still waiting on the call , had the interview on Friday and with the bank holiday prob will not hear yet.
When you do get the call saying you have the job, they then do the checks on you. Would you hand your notice in when they say u have the job or after the checks. I would like to sign something before I do this or is this not the case.
I have to give 4 weeks notice you see.
Many thanks

You only need to give one weeks notice if you work for RM.

You seem quite confident you are going to be offered a job. :hmmmm
They recently did 3 days of interviews for just 5 vacancies in a Delivery Office near me.
They filled the vacancies while others were put on a waiting list ......
Who knows how long that list is ..... or when more vacancies will be filled.

My advice would be to hang tight till they give you a certain offer. Also watch out sometimes the job offer may be in a different office and different hours than the original.

I would then hand your notice in at your old place - possibly using sick leave and holidays to cut down the time, however most places at the moment would probably allow you to go sooner than the notice period - be upfront and honest with your current employer.

You could but it may just be that there were too many applicants, I doubt if they could give you a constructive answer but its always worth a try.
